About Sindice

Over 10 billion of application reusable pieces of information are on the Web today. They come from projects such as LOD but most of all from lots of Web 2.0 sites which are embracing the vision of facilitating easy sharing of information for subsequent automatic reuse and aggregation.

Livejournal, Linkedin, Digg, and a great number of others are publishing their data online and this number is simply going to skyrocket as large web players such as Yahoo! announcing support and integration of such technologies.

This vision is called Semantic Web or Web of Data. The key technologies are RDF and Microformats. Examples of such information types are contacts, events, social networks, web polls and votes, reviews, and hundreds of other domain specific entities.

Get an edge by consuming this data! Use this data to provide new and surprising services for your users. Increase the value of your application, augmenting your content with interesting related information (events, people, reviews social networking information). Use it in the backend to better target or compose your ads. Or simply let us know what you would like web data to do for you.

Sindice monitors, harvests and brings this data together under a coherent umbrella of functionalities and services. Sindice is currently in early beta, please visit us back and subscribe to our blog or forum to learn as new functionalities are being frequently added.

Sindice is created at DERI, the world’s largest institute for Semantic Web research. It is based on DERI’s unique cluster technology which indexes and operates over terascale semantic data sets (trillions of statements) while also providing very high query throughputs per cluster size.  Leveraging unique cluster technologies, Sindice performs sophisticated reasoning which dramatically enhances data reusability, search precision, and recall. It obtains data by focused crawling methods which detects and focuses on metadata rich internet sources.
